Position Title: Splicer

Position Based In: Karachi - Pakistan

Education: FSc or DAE in Electronics , Telecommunication or Electrical

Experience: DAE/FSC or Metric with 3 Years Experience

Job Descriptions / Responsibilities:

• Resposnible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Operation & Maintenance of Optical Fibre Cable Network.
• Regular testing of dark fibers and analysis of OTDR traces.
• Identification and removal of pressure points to keep the fiber within the specified attenuation limits.
• Weekly trial operation of all test equipemnt and generators etc to confirm its condition.
• Keeping record of stores (Joint Enclosures, pipes, Warning tape, sleeves etc).
• Coordination with various contractors working along the cable for safety of cable.
• Admisntration and Supervision of Patrollers.
• Supervise the activities of OMU team (Assistant Splicers, Labor and drivers).
• Responsible for good house keeping of telehouse and OMU.
• Knowledge of Optical Fiber Cable, its contruction and laying methodology.
• Use of OTDR, splicing machine, joint boxes, patch cords, pigtails, connector types, Fiber scope.
• Testing of fibers and analysis of OTDR traces.
• Experience of system cabling and patching .
• Knowledge of transmission systems.
• Update as built diagrams.

Required Skills:

• OFC jointing skills
• Indepth knoweldge of Optical Fiber Cable
• Use of OTDR, Splicing Machine and other tools used in optical fiber cable
• Preparation of cable for splicing
• Computer literate
